April Edition
:
The grass is
cut and rolled to produce a sight of summer, the first wicket of
2007.
The cricket
season begins this weekend with Innellan CC welcoming their first
foot, Cairndow CC, at Castle Toward on Sunday afternoon.
Indoor nets
at DGS saw the return of the stalwarts and a few newcomers,
including 7 juniors.
To our new
friends we extend a warm welcome and trust you will enjoy your
cricket at Innellan and Cairndow.
Last weekend
the square at the Castle looked and played well in a practice
session.
Innellan’s
Captain this year is Michael Clark, he, having played well for
Innellan with bat and ball for a number of years, has now taken the
skipper’s bunnet and we wish him well in his captaincy.
The Rain
Dancers from the head of Loch Fyne have obviously been practicing,
(as this is written, a small monsoon has arrived, -perhaps their
timing is a bit out this early in the season), but it is thought
that all will be well for the curtain raiser this weekend!
So with the
smell of freshly cut grass, the sound of leather on willow will once
again echo around the splendid surroundings of Castle Toward.
Innellan CC
would like to thank the management and staff of Castle Toward, and
in particular Mr H Murray, Mr P Wilson and Mr D Lamont, for
allowing us to play cricket at Toward over the last 25 years.
Without its facilities and their support, it is doubtful cricket
would be alive and well in Cowal.
